ITER for Swiss Industry

With this industry event, Switzerland demonstrated its continued active participation in the ITER project. The meeting, held in Berne during September, was introduced by high profile persons such as Dr Mauro Dell’Ambrogio, Secretary of State of the State Secretariat for Education and for Research, and Dr. Ambrogio Fasoli, CRPP Executive Director.

On behalf of the Contracts and Procurement Department, Benjamin Perier presented the ITER project and F4E’s roll as well as the industrial policy for fusion. Representing the ITER department, Jesus Izquierdo presented the Quality Assurance and management specifications of the ITER project.

Finally, several companies shared their experience of contributing to past international research projects: ABB Switzerland Ltd. with ‘Solid State Crowbar Switches for HV Systems’;  Comet AG with ‘Matching Capacitors for Fusion Projects’; Kasag Langnau with ‘Design and Manufacturing of  Cuve Aerosol Chamber (CERN)’; LEMO SA with ‘Remote Handling Connector Development’;  Linde Kryotechnik Ag. with its ‘Expertise & Involvement’; Sulzer Chemtech AG together with ‘Sulzer Innotec with ‘Participation of Sulzer in the JET-Project’ and finally Thomson Broadcast & Multimedia AG with ‘High Voltage Supplies for the Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik’.

This event allowed for a wide discussion on the ITER project and the role of F4E as well as a useful exchange of information for both sides.
