F4E seeks to recruit Director

Do you believe in change and want to contribute to the energy mix of the future? Can you lead and inspire a team of talented people working for a multi‐billion-euro project that has the potential to stimulate innovation and expertise, generate technology breakthroughs, and help Europe become more sustainable and green?

Fusion for Energy (F4E), the European Union’s Joint Undertaking, with its headquarters in Barcelona, Spain, manages the European contribution to ITER which amounts to nearly half of the project. This research fusion device, currently under construction in Cadarache, France, will constitute a major step towards the development of fusion energy.

In parallel, F4E is involved in three major fusion R&D projects, stemming from the Broader Approach Agreement signed between Europe and Japan.  Ultimately, F4E will contribute to the development of demonstration fusion reactors by offering technical know-how and expertise.

The Director will be appointed as a member of staff of F4E a period of five years, which may be extended once in accordance with the F4E statutes. Currently F4E counts approximately 440 staff members, in addition to 400 external staff, mainly service providers.

F4E is an equal opportunities employer and takes care to avoid any form of discrimination. As part of its commitment to diversity, gender equality and geographical distribution, it strongly encourages applications from female candidates and applies a policy of equal opportunities. F4E does not discriminate against anyone on grounds of gender, race, colour, ethnic or social origin, genetic features, religion or belief, political or any other opinion, membership of a national minority, property, birth, disability or sexual orientation. F4E offers measures to reconcile professional and private life and will provide reasonable adjustments at the workplace for persons with disabilities.
