A panoramic view of the Tokamak complex in late December showing the progress of the anti-seismic bearings

This time we have decided to combine the sets of pictures from November and December and release them in one go in order to announce two significant developments: the lower basemat of the Tokamak complex is completed and that the PF Coils building is going through the final acceptance procedure.

The works for the Tokamak lower basemat started almost six months ago. Europe, being the party responsible for delivering the buildings on the site, was determined together with the contractors to meet the tight schedule. The completed lower basemat is another step forward demonstrating clear progress. The surface of the lower basemat is approximately 11,000m2 and hosts an impressive total of 13,783m3 of concrete. Up until December, one third of the construction works for the retaining walls were completed using 1,500m3 and 260 tonnes of iron. Approximately 280 plinths were put in place using 760mof concrete and 300 tonnes of iron. The progress on the anti-seismic bearings was also noticeable counting 222 of them already in place at this stage.

There was also good news for the PF Coils building. In November, the 2,000mfire protection tank was installed, measuring 20 metres high and 15 metres wide. In December, the office space building adjacent to the PF building was delivered with a maximum capacity of 80 people.
During this period, the certification process began and finishing touches were put in place.
