Visit of a Chinese delegation to the ‘Fusion for Energy’ offices

On 25 June 2007, Dr. Cheng Jinpei, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the People’s Republic of China visited the offices of ‘Fusion for Energy’ in Barcelona, accompanied by high representatives from the Chinese government. After a welcome from Stavros Chatzipanagiotou, Head of Unit of the European Commission, the visitors were given a presentation on the progress made in setting up the ‘Fusion for Energy’ organisation and the European contributions to the construction of ITER. This was followed by an exchange of ideas on current developments and collaborations. Dr. Cheng Jinpei emphasized the importance of international collaborations in large research projects such as JET and ITER. In China, the process of ratification of the international ITER Agreement is expected to be finalized within a short period of time.
