ITER Organization and Japan sign first Procurement Arrangement

The two day ITER Council meeting in Cadarache, France brought together top scientific statesmen from China, the European Union, India, Japan, Korea, Russia and the United States. This first Council meeting, convened by the IAEA, came about a month after the entry into force of the ITER Agreement on 24 October 2007.
The ITER Organization is moving on from designing to procuring. On Wednesday, 28th November, the Director General of the ITER Organization, Kaname Ikeda, and the Director for International Affairs Department, Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), Toshi Nagaoka, signed the first Procurement Arrangement between the ITER Organization and the Japanese Domestic Agency at the Château de Cadarache.
